This year's summer school attracted an enthusiastic group of participants from Holland, France, Canada, New Zealand and the UK.

We worked on three plays over two weeks – Titus Andronicus with director Lucy Bailey, The Merchant of Venice with John Nettles and Jane Wymark and Othello with Janet Suzman. The sessions consisted of reading the plays and then putting scenes on their feet (for those that wanted to) but also watching a DVD of Othello, the hauntingly claustrophobic production that Janet directed in apartheid Johannesburg in 1982.

Days off were spent in Venice, Verona and Padua.

Some comments about the course -

" I've been raving about what a great 2 weeks I had from all points of view, thanks to your organisation and hard work. I hope you WILL do it again." Lesley Clack, France

" My top was being immersed in Shakespeare with so many engaged and knowledgeable people." David Choules, UK

" I absolutely loved it and wouldn't think twice about doing it again." Tegan Hopgood, UK

"The grace, warmth, passion and care that you all invest in this experience and the concept is unique, engaging, adventurous and well worthwhile." Julia Jamison, Canada

We are looking into holding next year's summer school in a hotel by the sea the south of Italy in Reggio Calabria. There will be boat trips to Agrigento and Taormina in Sicily on our days off plus BBQ's on the beach... Please keep an eye on the website for more information.
